There are numerous sights in Paris worth visiting. Here you find some of many important attractions.

The Arch of Triumph which is located at the center of Place Charles de Gaulle at the end of Champs-Élysées, is regarded as the most magnificent of it's kind.

The Eiffel Tower was built for the Exposition Universelle in 1889, and it was meant to be dismantled in 1909.

Hotel des invalides was built in 1675 by Louis XIV to serve as a home for invalid war veterans. The building is now partially used as a war museum. The famous Dome des Invalides is one of two churches which is a part of the building complex.

The Luxembourg Palace lies in beautiful surroundings in the northern part of the Luxembourg Garden. The palace which was originally built for King Louis XIII's mother, is now the seat of the French senate.

The beautiful gothic cathedral - Notre Dame - is located on Ile de la Cité. The cathedral is one of the sights most tourists visit when the are on a holiday in Paris, and Notre Dame which is gathered to be one of the greatest examples of French-Gothic architecture is well worth a visit.

The Palais Bourbon is where the French National Assembly has their meetings. The palace was originally built for The Sun King Louis XIV, and is designed by the Italian architect Giardini.

The Panthéon is located at the top of Montagne Ste-Geneviève with a view to the famous Latin Quarter. The Panthéon is the burial place for well known French characters like Victor Hugo, Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Marie and Pierre Curie, Jean Monnet and Emile Zola.

Well visible from most parts of Paris is the beautiful Sacré Coeur located on the hill Montmartre. Sacré Coeur is a monumental building in a Byzantine style. The building of the basilica was started in 1875 and the church was completed in 1914.

The magnificent Versailles Palace is located in, a suburb to Paris. The castle was the official residence of French Kings from 1682 to 1790.
